The spectacular sound of the bells of Marques Yi of Zeng Dating back to the time of Warring States, the bells of Marques Yi of Zeng are by far the most important music archaeological discovery worldwide. But none of the bells’ music has survived. Lao Luo’s creations for this incredible instrument do not want to reimagine something gone, but are building a bridge from the 21st century back 2500 years, combining the spirit of ancient times with compositions of the modern. The bells are featured in an innovative way, not only playing single notes, but with performing harmonies, melodies, complex rhythmic patterns and even clusters.
